Reimagining the mundane

To honor one of the best marketed products in history, I combined classic sea monkey illustrations with everyday objects to expand the magical world where mundane brine shrimp are fabulous friends. The instruction booklet that came with the little plastic tank depicted sea monkey dads playing catch with their sea monkey sons and sea monkey families enjoying picnics in their sea monkey parks. They were “a true MIRACLE of nature” in “SUSPENDED ANIMATION!” and “real TIME-TRAVELERS” ready for their “journey into the FUTURE!” Here they’re remixed using contact photography to create a landscape of PURE FUN and AMAZEMENT! 5″ x 52″, 2000.
